Early End to the Football Season Keeps Students Safe
Taft cancelled the football game on Friday, October 26th due to injuries. 6 players were lost due to grades, (5 of which were linemen), and 3 players were lost due to injuries and concussions, leaving us only 17 active players. That leaves just 3 linemen on the field, not enough to keep the team safe during gameplay. The game, originally against Birmingham Charter High School would have been the 9th game of the season, with Taft heading into the game 0-8.
The choice to cancel the game came down to the safety of the players, and with so many injuries the bench was lacking the bodies to move forward.
While the premature ending to Taft’s football program was sad to see, it was necessary to keep the players safe.

There was a lot of evidence included in the writing so I reader was able to put the situation in perspective. I was able to comprehend what was happening and understand the problem. I would say that the writer should explain why the players are not able to play due to bad grades and why the linemen were important for the readers that do not have the experience or background to understand those topics.

Thank you for informing us students about why our football season ended early. I was going to go to the game when they were originally supposed to go against Birmingham until I was informed that the game was cancelled. This left me wondering to what the reason was for the game getting cancelled. Now, I know the true reason to what originally had happened. And it was a good call to be safe than sorry. Suggestion: since the football season is over, could you do articles in the future on the boy’s upcoming volleyball team that will be starting this semester? Overall, nice and informative article:)

I like the amount of information in the article it really helps me get a good grasp on the situation Taft Football was in. It is a great article and I don’t think I can give any feedback for the author because it was very well written, it gave a lot of information, and with all the information that I was given I can see the situation that Taft Football was in making the decision of playing Birmingham. This author is really good at their job because in just the first sentence they captured me and made me want to read more. I hope this author keeps writing articles because they are really good at making them. Overall a really good article.

When I first heard about this, I didn’t know why Taft forfeited. Now that I know it was in order to keep the players safe, it makes sense. I think that safety is very important, especially in football and that it was a good move by the coaching staff.
