Elyse E. “Lisi” Harrison is a Canadian-born author of the book who worked at MTV network for 12 years, but she left to write The Clique series. She has sold more than eight million copies and has been on the New York Times bestseller for more than two hundred weeks. Harrison has a website, www.lisiharrrison.com where you can find information  about her life, her blog, books that she’s written, etc..

The Clique is about four girls name Massie Block, Dylan Marvil, Alicia Rivera, and Kristen Gregory who are extremely snobby best friends that come from wealthy families. When Massie’s father’s friend and his family move into their guesthouse, she is forced to get to know Claire. She wears Keds and two-year-old Gap overalls and is not Clique material. But with a little luck and a lot of scheming, Claire might just come up smelling like Chanel No. 19 . . .

I found this book intriguing and relatable to teens in high school. It reminded me of the movie “Mean Girls,” a similar story of a clique and an outsider who tries to fit in and become one of the members of the group. I recommend this book to pre-teens and teens; if you love drama (like I do) this book would be astounding for you. The Clique is not a dull book; you’ll enjoy every minute of it. Additionally, The Clique is a series, so there are seven more that are a must read. Furthermore, I give this book a five-star rating, and it is available at the library, Ms. Coe would love to help you check it out.
