The new remade American musical drama A Star is Born, directed by Bradley Cooper, is a tear-jerking love story starring Bradley Cooper himself, and Lady Gaga. In the movie, Jackson Maine, played by Bradley Cooper, discovers a struggling, talented artist by the name of Ally Campana, played by Lady Gaga, and falls in love with her taking her to the spotlight. Both characters had two different paths, a hard-drinking, famous star who’s slowly falling and a new artist who’s rising to the top. Even after Ally’s career takes off, their relationship starts to fall off. Together both Cooper and Gaga played huge roles in the movie catching everyone’s attention with their outstanding talent and acting.

A Star is Born has been a remake to the original that came out in 1937. Since then it has been remade three times, making the one produced by Bradley Cooper the fourth. Kurt Cobain inspired the script of the film. The talk for a remake began around 2011 with Clint Eastwood set to direct and Beyonce as the star, but the movie had been delayed due to Beyonce’s pregnancy. The film was a complicated process as they went through many co-stars such as Christian Bale, Leonardo Dicaprio, Will Smith, and Tom Cruise. In March 2016, Cooper signed on to star and direct the movie, and Lady Gaga joined the crew five months later in August of 2016. During The Ellen Show, Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga talked about A Star is Born. Cooper begins to speak about Clint Eastwood and notes, ”He wanted to tell a story about family and childhood, and those elements weren’t in the other versions, and it wasn’t the smart thing at the time, but you can’t choose what moves you.” Lady Gaga added ”He wanted to sing together, so I printed out a song he wanted to sing called ‘Midnight Special’ and I was nervous of course, I had never sat down with an actor like him ever.  I started to play, and he started to sing, and I just stopped playing, and I looked over at him and said ‘oh my gosh Bradley your voice, you have a voice, you can sing.’ It comes from his gut, from the inside of him it was so soulful.”

After seeing him perform at Desert Trip festival, Cooper approached Lukas Nelson (son of country music singer Willie Nelson) and asked him to help work on the film. Nelson agreed and wrote several songs, which he sent to the producers. Nelson subsequently met Lady Gaga and began writing songs with her and she, in turn, provided backing vocals on two tracks on his self-titled 2017 album. The soundtrack, performed by Gaga and Cooper, was released on October 5, 2018, by Interscope Records. The studio announced that the album “features 19 songs in a wide range of musical styles + 15 dialogue tracks that will take you on a journey that mirrors the experience of seeing the film.”

After reading such amazing reviews of the movie, we asked some people that have seen the movie what they thought about it and a lot said they loved it. We asked Sara Garcia how she heard of them, and she responded saying, “My friend wouldn’t stop bugging me about it, so I decided to go watch it with her.”  Shortly after she continued saying, “-I found the movie to be really good because there are just so many emotions you get from watching it. I honestly thought the movie was well directed, and the songs were really good and catchy, I listen to them on a daily basis. I loved the movie and the music.” Both Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper dedicated so much time into this movie that their song ”Shallow” won a Golden Globe for Best Original Song and was nominated for an Academy Award. In the drama’s heartbreaking final act, the couple’s passion and devotion are replaced with tragedy. A Star is Born is a must-see movie that will take your breath away.
