Taft High School’s Graphic Design Regional Occupational Program (ROP) class has launched with a very productive year. Fourth period’s Graphic Design ROP class began as a club but was then turned into the class you see today. They have created many of the designs and sketches you have seen this year such as the Senior Picnic tickets, the Dance Concert flyers, the big Taft logo on the field, and many more. The great thing about this class is that they take requests for any logo and make it happen. This class wouldn’t be a class if it weren’t for the students that pushed to make it happen.

Graphic design holds positions for each of the students that are enrolled in it. Senior Jasmine Lahijaniha is the President, Kate Novikov is the Vice President, Ekatarina Bushmareva is the lead sketch artist and Clement Amiri as the head of the illustration. These people and their classmates join together and design things for our school. Together they helped create the big Taft logo that was on our football field for Homecoming, tickets for the Homecoming dance, tickets for senior events along with the flyers, logos for sports, graduation programs, our senior sweatshirt designs, and are in the process of creating much more.

As I have mentioned before, the students in this class have specific roles. Senior Ekatarina Bushmarova is the lead sketch artist and is in charge of evaluating the artwork and drawings. She is the one who made the stencil of the big “T’ on the field for Homecoming and the dance concert flyers. Senior Clement Amiri is the head illustrator and is currently working on some posters for the library. All of the logos, designs, and advertisements that you have seen around the school are all thanks to this class, much of this wouldn’t be possible if this class had not been developed and run by Ms. Hajj.

If you want to submit a request for designs, see Ms. Hajj in room B201 or fill out a request form found in the main office. Designs are done promptly, but larger projects work best when the designers can sit with you for a consultation to ensure you are getting exactly what you need.

One big project they are currently working on is a team effort between the environmental club and graphic design. Soon you will see the work they created all around campus!
