Santa 4 Students Toy Drive Brings Holiday Cheer to Telfair Elementary
Taft Charter High School’s ASB recently completed a Santa 4 Students Toy drive that would deliver toys to the elementary students at Telfair Elementary school. The toys, donated by staff and students at TCHS, were wrapped up by ASB and delivered on December 7th. This was the 27th toy drop that Taft has participated in with Telfair Elementary school, and the tradition lives on as a highlight for both Taft students as well as the young children they visited.
The toy drive brings gifts to students that may not otherwise have them during the holiday season. Telfair, located in Pacoima, has a great need for this drive and was excited to receive such a donation. With over 20% of their students and families struggling with homelessness. This is the perfect time for our Taft community to get together and support those who need a hand. With over 500 toys donated and wrapped up, each child received a gift from Santa and his helpers. Senior Jaslyn Amouna shared, “It was really heartwarming, the kids really loved it and they were very appreciative. They even believed us when we said we were Santa’s elves. The kids LOVED Santa!” Jaslyn along with her fellow ASB members helped Santa deliver toys classroom to classroom and spread holiday cheer everywhere they went.
Taft can’t wait to continue the tradition in the years to come and is thankful for the community outreach that has continued between Taft Charter High School and Telfair Elementary.

This is a wonderful thing that Taft does every year. It is eye-opening and inspirational to know that toys that we donated were able to make a child’s Christmas better. I can’t wait to give toys to the toy drive again next year.

My Mother works at a High School and they get a lot of students who have come from Telfair Elementary. And any time this season comes around she is always told about how these memories have stuck with them through the years. This makes me happy to be a part of such a generous school.

I think that this toy drive is a wonderful idea and it is great that Taft does this. Many people can learn from giving to other’s or even learn to appreciate all they have. I remember when i was younger Christmas was my favorite holiday, i loved being with my family and waiting for “Santa” to bring me gifts. All of those memories will forever live within me and other’s should get to experience that as well. Taft should continue to participate in this kind act and try to get others to get more involved. Overall the people participating in this have an amazing heart and should be very happy to help less fortunate people have a Christmas.

I think that Santa for Students is truly the most mind opening and beautiful event that goes on at Taft. I myself was fortunate enough to be apart of this extraordinary experience and it has taught me so much about giving as well as doing things for other people. I am truly looking forward to warming up my heart again by being able to participate in this event next year.
